Tamala Chirwa has held various positions in leading organizations in Malawi, South Africa, and Kenya, delivering high-value solutions as a manager in Finance, Administration, Human Resources Management, and Coaching functions.  She has worked in organizations such as INDEBANK Malawi, LOITA Bank Malawi (now Ecobank), GIZ Malawi, Anglo American Corporation, South Africa, CDI Africa Coaching Group, Kenya. Her robust track record in designing and delivering high-impact leadership development and coaching programmes are testament to her expertise.

Current Roles

Tamala is a Senior Expert at WAN-IFRA WIN, a programme whose mission is to advance gender equality and inclusion in the media industry globally.  She coaches a cohort of senior leaders at WIN and contributes towards programmes that enhance team and organizational effectiveness. Additionally, Tamala serves on Panels of Coaches for the Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme, Obama Foundation Africa Leadership Programme, Centre for Creative Leadership’s Women Lift Health Programme, and as Mentor Coach for CDI Africa Coaching Group.

As a coach, Tamala works with and supports senior leaders who seek to transform their own leadership journeys while deepening their impact on the people they lead. Her coaching specialties include leading with emotional intelligence, team development and performance, personal and professional branding, and women in leadership. Tamala supports leaders at all levels with consistent, client-specific support required to help clients navigate workplace transitions, societal change, and personal and professional challenges. She coaches senior leaders globally. She expands her own leadership impact by providing strategic direction for the Professional Coaching Institute (PCI), a coaching company that provides coaching services, develops professional coaches, and supports leaders in developing coaching cultures throughout their organizations.

Educational Background

Tamala holds an MBA from the Management College of South Africa (MANCOSA), an ACCA Diploma in Financial Management and Postgraduate Management Certificate from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.

Professional Affiliations and Credentials

Tamala is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and ICF Registered Mentor Coach, specializing in Executive Leadership Coaching and Group and Team Coaching. She is also a Leadership Emotional Intelligence Performance Accelerator (LEIPA) Facilitator and Coach-Trainer. Tamala is trained and certified to debrief assessments like DISC, the Center for Creative Leadership’s Benchmarks® 360 Assessments, WorkPlace Big Five Profile™, Influence Style Indicator, Conflict Dynamics Profile, and WorkLife Indicator™. She is a Vital Voices Fellow/VV100 network member of Vital Voices Global Partnership.  She actively extends her service in the realm of social impact as a Board Leader e.g. Trustee of the Board of International Coaching Federation Foundation, member of the International Coaching Federation Global Diversity Council and Chairperson Emeritus of Mudzi Connect Malawi.
